When it comes to life in the bedroom, it seems there’s only one thing on our minds - and it’s not sex.

While it may be no surprise to many mums out there, a recent survey revealed that not only do we choose sleep over sex, but we also do not feel confident enough about our bodies to enjoy sex.

The National Sex Survey got over 3,000 responses from Australian mums, and the results were quite revealing.

One in four mums admit that low self-esteem is the main reason they choose to avoid sex with a partner, while 66 percent say they only feel confident in bed when they’ve lost weight.

10 percent of mums say sex is off the cards because their children are always in the bed with them, while four percent of mums find their partners ‘too annoying’ to get intimate.

The survey also asked mums about how frequently they’re having sex, with 25 percent saying it happens around two or three times a month in comparison to the 10 percent of mums getting frisky over 10 times a month.

"A healthy sex life can often go hand in hand with being healthy," says the founder of The Healthy Mummy, Rhian Allen.

"Our focus is educating mums about healthy foods, healthy exercise and offering daily support to achieve this – which then goes hand in hand with healthy weight loss and body confidence.

“If this then leads to a healthier sex life, this is without doubt an added bonus!"
