A grieving mother, whose six-month-old daughter died in the care of her babysitter, has launched a campaign in a bid to prevent child abuse.
Little Finley Olson died earlier this year from a brain injury, and her family were left shocked and devastated by the loss.
In a brave move, mum Rachel has unveiled a ‘purple hat’ campaign, in the hopes that no other family will have to suffer the same tragedy.
In an interview with local media outlet WISN, the Wisconsin mum-of-two revealed that every child born at the local hospital from November onwards will receive a purple hat in honour of Finley.
Parents will also be presented with a package outlining Finley’s story, and information on preventing child abuse.
Explaining the reasoning behind the campaign, Rachel said: “She was stolen from me, so what I feel like I can do now for her and her memory is try to do something positive; something good where I feel like I can help other children.”
Over on the family’s GoFundMe page (link here), she adds: “Finley is a HERO in our eyes, and we want to have her memory and life sacrifice live on.”
This is such a tragic story, but it’s so important to spread the word of Rachel’s campaign.
