Following recent caustic remarks that two of his five children are now 'dead' to him, Kate and Oliver Hudson's father, Bill, may be surprised to learn that the cruel declaration has had little to no effect on the famous siblings.

Hitting out at his son Oliver after the Rules of Engagement star slammed his father's notable absence from his childhood, Bill insisted he was happy to cut all ties with Kate and her brother.

Highly offended by his son's Father's Day post on Instagram which read: "Happy Abandonment Day", Bill said: "I say to them now, 'I set you free'. I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognise Oliver and Kate as my own."

While many may be devastated by their father's course of action, it appears the Almost Famous star and her brother are unperturbed by comments which included: "I am mourning their loss even though they are still walking this earth."

According to sources, the talented pair, who were raised by their mother Goldie Hawn and her partner Kurt Russell, are tired of their father's claims and refuse to be dragged into the controversy.

Revealing that Oliver and Kate's reaction to the remarks was relatively muted, the insider said: "They don’t care and are not surprised by this."

Speaking to US Weekly, the family source went on to say: "It’s been this way, and he’s been saying this stuff forever. He's always trying to clear his name and his image."

We're glad the famous siblings were able to rise above the cruel comments.
