Getting to do our daughter's hair is one of the many highlights of being a mum to a little girl. There are so many options and styles to choose from that you could do a new style every day – obviously depending on time in the morning.

Heading to a party this weekend? Why not give these styles a go, they are a lot easier than they look.

Messy top knot
This is probably the easiest one to do and even if they do mess it up, it will look like it’s meant to be like that.

Simply backcomb the top and sides of your child’s hair. Pull it all together in a ponytail. Twist it around itself and secure with a bobbin. Pull out strands to add to the messy effect.

Side braid
Most girls like to wear their hair down, even though it often ends up in the eyes. However, this style is great as you can grant their wish and also keep hair away from their face.

Brush the hair straight before grabbing a section at the front. Pull this to the side and style it into a plait. Tie the ends together and add a couple of bobby pins to secure it together.

Wild and free
For a very special occasion this look would go down a treat.

The night before, put your youngster's hair in soft rollers. Let your child go to bed with them on and take them out in the morning. Their hair will look more like a wave than a ringlet. Brush the top of the head with a soft, bristle brush but run your fingers through the ends. Accessorise with a gorgeous hair band either around the forehead or on top of the head.

Criss-cross
This looks more complicated than what it actually is.

Brush all the knots out and part in the centre. Divide the hair at the top of the head into pigtails. Secure with bobbins. Criss-cross the pigtails over each other and create two more in the centre of the head by combining the pigtails with the hair underneath. Secure with bobbins. Keep doing this until all the hair is tied up and you are left with enough hair at the nape of the neck to finish off the look with two final pigtails. Accessorise with pretty bows.
