On the subject of body-shaming, one mum-to-be has decided to rise above the noise, after online trolls branded her pregnancy body ‘ugly’.

Oxana Rumyantseva, a Miami-based fitness blogger and mum-of-four, has hit back at cruel body-shamers criticising her for maintaining an active fitness regime during her pregnancy.

Oxana - who is now 38 weeks pregnant - has continued to lift weights, run and do yoga, and still has a six-pack and abs alongside her baby bump.

With a 57K-strong Instagram following, it didn’t take long for the critics to have a go at 33-year-old Oxana over her lifestyle choices, once her pregnancy news was announced.

While many have branded her ‘selfish’ for apparently ‘endangering’ her baby with exercise, others even went so far as to accuse her of faking her own pregnancy at the beginning.

Just one of the insensitive comments levelled against her read: “How would you feel if you fell flat on your stomach and miscarried?”

“There are so many haters who don’t understand fitness during pregnancy and call my pregnant abs ugly, or think I’m too skinny,” Oxana said, in an interview with the New York Daily News.

However, she has insisted that as long as her baby is healthy and she feels good, she’s going to continue with her regime – and she will not pay heed to the haters.

“A lot of people think that pregnancy is like a disease, and think you should spend it lying in bed, but that’s not healthy, I need to be an active pregnant mum. I need to be healthy and strong and to have energy for my big family,” she added.

Fair play to Oxana – it can be hard to keep your resolve in the midst of such criticism.
