Earlier today, we reported upon the death of Eduardo Cruz, the father of Hollywood actress Penelope, and now, unfortunately, we have yet more sad news to share.

According to reports this evening, Canadian actor and comedian Rick Ducommun has died at the age of 62.

Ducommun – best known for his roles in Die Hard and The 'Burbs, alongside Tom Hanks – was said to have passed away surrounded by his family. The cause of his death has not yet been released.

A number of Hollywood stars have taken to their social media channels tonight to pay tribute to Ducommun, with many of them praising him for his talent and wonderful sense of humour.

One of the first to acknowledge Ducommun’s passing was The 'Burbs director Joe Dante, who shared a still of the actor from the movie. Praising Ducommun for his famously hilarious performance as inquisitive neighbour Art, Dante wrote: “Lots of the funniest stuff he says [in the movie] was totally ad-libbed.”

Other popular movies starring Ducommun were Bill Murray’s Groundhog Day and The Hunt for Red October.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the actor’s family and friends at this sad time.
