He’s one of the funniest men in show business, so we knew we could always rely on comedian and actor Will Ferrell to give a humorously accurate account of parenting.

The star, who is dad to three sons – 11-year-old Magnus, eight-year-old Mattias and five-year-old Axel – shared a unique insight into fatherhood during promotion for his latest movie.

Chatting to People magazine about what life is like for himself and wife Viveca Paulin, as parents to all boys, the 47-year-old drew on a rather unusual analogy.

“I can only imagine, but I sometimes equate it to what it must be like running a prison,” the comedian began.

In a comparison that no doubt many of you will be able to identify with, Ferrell added: “What happens with three boys is you end up barking out orders like, ‘Upstairs now!’, ‘Brush teeth!’, ‘Lights out!’ There is so much chaos you can’t really take the time to articulate.”

Admitting that there are “rare moments” where he will completely lose his temper with his little ones, Will dropped a rather surprising bombshell – he’s not a funny dad, or so he reckons.

“Oh, if anyone was a fly on the wall, they’d be like, ‘Will Ferrell is not a funny father! He’s way too strict,’” he said.

Well, after that analogy, we have a hard time believing him.
