The death of Bode Miller’s daughter shattered the hearts of people all around the world. The skier lost his 19-month-old daughter after a tragic drowning accident.
It is believed that the toddler fell into the swimming pool at their neighbour’s house in Orange County, California, where she was found by her mum.
The Olympian has received heaps of support since announcing his daughter’s heartbreaking passing.
Just over a week since Emmy’s death, the dad has taken to Instagram to thank everyone for their loving messages.
Alongside a snap of Bode and his late daughter, the Olympian wrote: “We want to thank our friends, family and everyone of you who sent a message, said a prayer or donated for the overwhelming expression of support.”
He continued to share that his family was extremely thankful for everyone’s kindness: “ -We are truly touched and blessed.”
Bode went on to reveal that his wife’s midwives have started a gofundme campaign to raise funds for the family.
“We intend to donate these funds raised to worthwhile causes connected to water safety education,” he revealed.
He added that they want to honour their daughter by raising awareness: “We are inspired to make our baby girls memory go forth and help prevent as many drownings as possible.”
“We will post more soon on our plans and efforts,” he added.
We have so much respect for Bode and his wife Morgan. To focus on helping others shortly after losing their beloved daughter is beyond admirable.
