You would think that sitting down to watch the movie that brought your parents together in the first place would be a heart-warming experience; unfortunately, this wasn’t the case for Everly Tatum!

The four-year-old was apparently distinctly underwhelmed recently, when parents Channing and Jenna played Step Up for her.

Released in 2006, Step Up not only launched the Tatums’ careers, it was also the place where they met and fell in love.

Opening up in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel this week, Channing revealed that the sentimental value of the movie was lost on their daughter when she watched it for the first time!

“We were like, ‘This is going to be really cool. And it’s got dancing, so she’s going to love it!’” he recalled.

“Within 10 seconds, she was like, ‘Can I watch a real movie? Like, a good one?’”

Needless to say, Channing and his wife of eight years were just a little bit disappointed with their daughter’s response to their love story.

“We were like, ‘What do you mean? This is a real movie! It was such a real movie that they made like seven more of these! You will watch it! Just sit down!” he joked.

Unfortunately, the magic of Disney won out for little Everly, as Channing revealed: “10 more seconds went by, and she was like, ‘Please, can I watch a real movie?’ And we were like, ‘Fine! Just put on Moana!’”

We can’t help but think that Channing and Jenna jumped the gun with this one – give it another 10 years at least, and little Everly will be the biggest fan of Step Up!

Channing and Jenna both began their careers as dancers, and while Everly may not share the couple’s Step Up nostalgia, it seems she’s following in their fancy footsteps.

Indeed, the tot is apparently loving her dance classes – after a little encouragement from Jenna!

In an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the 36-year-old revealed: “The first day, she goes, ‘You know, I want to go to dance class.’ And I was like, ‘Let’s go!’

“I organised the troops…Get the tights, I need the shoes, I want the bag – let’s go! She was into it!”

Two words: so cute.
