It has been three months since the tragic news of his death shocked the entertainment industry, and now this child star’s mother has given a heartbreaking insight into her grief.

Elizabeth Gini, the mother of former Everybody Loves Raymond star Sawyer Sweeten, revealed this week that her son suffered a mental breakdown in the weeks leading up to his death.

A distraught Elizabeth said this week that her son was “not in his right mind” shortly before his death, and she made every effort to figure out what was going on in his private life.

Writing in a blog for Larry King, Elizabeth said: “I didn’t see it because I was asking him and not those around him. Little did I know that the problems did not lie outside of Sawyer, and I wouldn’t discover this until it was too late.”

Sawyer, whose twin brother Sullivan starred alongside him in the hit comedy show, reportedly committed suicide earlier this year. He was just 19 years old.

Commenting further, to People magazine, Elizabeth added: “Never, ever again will I experience pure joy.”

Elizabeth is mother to eight other children.
