There is one called The Lister which I believe Kate Middleton is going to - they are meant to be very good.

There is also one called ARGC - they are not plush but I have heard great things about them and their results. Worth a call.

Giuliana Rancic diagnosed with breast cancer
17/10/2011 16:11

This doesn't rightfully belong under the heading 'gossip', but we thought it was important to share this. We discovered this week that our favourite ‘E! News’ correspondent, Giuliana Rancic, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Giuliana says that she had to be dragged “kicking and screaming” to have her mammogram at her doctor’s recommendation. At age 36 she didn’t see the point.

It turned out to be the best thing she could have done, as she revealed on the TODAY show that she was in the early stages of breast cancer.

"It was just a kick in the stomach," Rancic says. "I couldn't believe it, 36 years old, no family history."

Rancic is famous for co-hosting ‘E! News’ and ‘Fashion Police’. She also has a reality TV show with husband Bill on the couple’s struggles with infertility and attempts to conceive via IVF.

But Rancic told the TODAY show that while this was her third try at IVF, it was the first time a doctor had insisted she take a mammogram.

"He said, 'I don't care if you're 26 or 36, but I will not get you pregnant if possibly there's a small risk that you have cancer because the hormones will accelerate the cancer,'" said Rancic. "I never in my wildest dreams expected anything would be wrong."

Rancic continued: "A lot of us think we're invincible ... but we have to start putting ourselves on the to-do list."

Because Rancic found her breast cancer in the early stages, she expects to be well again, after some surgery and six weeks of radiation treatment. She says her plans for having a baby are on hold for how, but says “I’m not going to give up. I want that baby…that baby will have saved my life.”

Would you have thought to get checked for breast cancer in your 30’s? Will a story like this encourage you to get tested?

Testers wanted for Mother's Touch thermometer
03/11/2011 14:47
‘Mother's Touch’ is a new thermometer which can be placed like a ring on your hand, and it works by touching the child’s forehead to determine if the child has a fever. This new thermometer is every bit as accurate as the more invasive models. After only six to eight seconds, the Mother’s Touch will reliably show the child’s body temperature. It's easy and unobtrusive. The temperature is determined with the aid of three sensors, and it is operated simply with just one button and a large display – so it couldn’t be easier to use. There is also an audible fever alarm that gives parents additional certainly, and a very handy memory facility which stores the previous measurement, so that you can see if the child’s temperature has risen or fallen. Mother's Touch costs €17.99 and is available exclusively at DocMorris and Unicare pharmacies.

We are looking for five testers for the Mother’s Touch thermometer. If you are interested in participating visit this page, join the group and note your interest in taking part.
