Country music singer Granger Smith has announced the untimely death of his three-year-old son. The dad took to Instagram to confirm the harrowing news.
He shared that his boy died following a tragic accident at his family home. Reports have claimed that the young boy drowned.
The musician shared a photo of him and his son River and wrote: “I have to deliver unthinkable news. We’ve lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith. Following a tragic accident, and despite the doctor's best efforts, he was unable to be revived.”
Granger and his wife Amber decided to say goodbye to their son and donate his organs to charity.
“Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes and donate his organs so that other children will be given a second chance at life. Our family is devastated and heartbroken, but we take solace in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father.”
“Riv was special. Everyone that met him knew that immediately. The joy he brought to our lives cannot be expressed and his light will be forever in our hearts. If there are words to say more, I cannot find them in this moment. Love the ones close to you. There has never been a more difficult moment for us than this,” he wrote about his darling boy.
The family have asked to send donations to Dell Children’s Medical Center in River’s name.
Amber and Granger commented: “The doctors, nurses and staff have been incredible.”
We can’t even begin to think of the pain Granger, Amber and their family are experiencing during this unthinkable time. Losing a child at any age is traumatic, but losing River at the mere age of three is beyond unfair. Our thoughts are with the parents during this devastating time.
