No teenager wants to be shown up by their dad, but we're sure the humiliation is all the more acute when the dad in question is world-famous footballer David Beckham.

Taking to Instagram yesterday, the 40-year-old former Manchester United player took a swipe at his eldest son's wrestling ability in a post which was swiftly addressed by 16-year-old Brooklyn.

Giving an insight into the activities enjoyed by the world-famous family, David began his post: "Just a normal Sunday in the Beckham household.  Master Brooklyn trying to take on 40-year-old dad and losing again."

Uploading a black and white shot of himself and his eldest son engaging in some rough and tumble, David finished the post by hashtagging the phrase: "Don't mess with Dad" and "Next time son".

Fans of the sports star were quick to comment on the daddy / son activity, with one Instagram user writing: "I love the proudness in your face David. Bet Brooklyn is hating you right now. Class."

Obviously determined to set the record straight, Brooklyn took to his own social media channels soon after and uploaded a shot which portrayed him in much more flattering light.

With his dad in a headlock on the ground, Brooklyn scorned his father's earlier jibe, writing: "In your dreams dad."

While Brooklyn was also inundated with comments following his cheeky upload, it looks like his dad may have won the Instagram battle, having amassed over 800,000 likes for his post in comparison to Brooklyn's 525,000.

Better luck next time, Brooklyn!
