Having been told that his reputation lies in ruins by the judge who sentenced him to serve five years and nine months behind bars for crimes against children, Rolf Harris has now been stripped of honours in his native Australia.

The once much-loved 84-year-old artist and musician has now had his Officer and Member of the Order of Australia removed following his imprisonment.

As it stands, the Honours and Appointments Secretariat can recommend that an individual be stripped of his honours if he is considered to have brought the system into disrepute or been found guilty of a criminal offence.

The Tie My Kangaroo Down, Sport singer was imprisoned after being found guilty of twelve sex offences against children.
 


Calls have been made for the UK to follow suit and strip the disgraced star of the CBE which he was awarded in 2006.
