He is known for his incredible sense of humour and quick wit, both on and off screen, but actor Ryan Reynolds certainly wasn’t messing around this week when it came to sharing his post-birth parenting advice.

The star has spent the month promoting his new superhero movie Deadpool, and naturally, talk turned to his other new role as a dad during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

The 39-year-old, who is father to one-year-old daughter James, had some very important advice to pass on to new fathers everywhere – do the ‘dirty work’!

“Just do the dirty work, man. You’ve got to do the diapers, you’ve got to do the middle-of-the-night thing. A human being will exit your wife, so she’s done enough,” said the Van Wilder star.

‘Atta man, Ryan! We think this is a stellar piece of advice.

Of course, Ryan couldn’t resist cracking a few jokes about wife Blake Lively’s labour experience during the appearance. Ever the joker, the star revealed that he played Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On while his wife was going through contractions!

“It was like steak knives came out of her eyes!” said an amused Ryan. Perhaps, dads, don’t take that last tip on board!

SHARE if you think every dad should adopt Ryan’s ‘dirty work’ attitude to new fatherhood.
