Just a week on from opening up about the passing of her baby son, acclaimed singer / songwriter, Lily Allen, has given an insight into the tumultuous relationship she shares with father, Keith Allen.

According to The Mirror, the 30-year-old singer hit back at Twitter trolls who suggested she used her father's name in an effort to climb to the top of the charts - a slight which feisty Lily refused to ignore.

Reportedly dismissing the notion that her surname played a role in her rise to the top, Lily hit back at her critics in a series of tweets which have since been deleted.

Having been dubbed 'talentless and only famous off the back of Daddy', the It's Not Fair singer decided to shed some light on the subject for the benefit of her naysayers.

Insisting that her father, who rose to fame in the 1980s as an actor, comedian and television presenter, played little role in her life while growing up, Lily wrote: “My dad walked out on me when I was four, I’m sick of this."

Revealing that her father has demonstrated little interest in her music career thus far, she continued: "My dad was at Latitude when I headlined and didn’t even come to see me."

Casting aspersion on the validity of the Twitter user's claim, Lily completed her argument by saying: "I’ve probably spent more time walking my dogs than I have with my dad my entire life. And I’m 30, too old to be running to anyone."

While the star has never made any secret of her tumultuous childhood, it appears this member of the public really hit a nerve with the much-loved mum.
