She has angered a lot of people this week with her comments about body image, and one famous mum has slammed Cheryl Fernandez-Versini for voicing her controversial opinions.

A day after Cheryl said that body-shaming should be made illegal, TV presenter Amanda Holden has criticised the X Factor star, saying that her comments are a little rich.

“It’s a little stupid to say it should be illegal. Because where does it end? When you’re in the public eye, you have to take the good with the bad,” the mother-of-two told the Mail Online.

Amanda, herself a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, added: “Like it or not, she wouldn’t be on the [X Factor] panel if it wasn’t for the papers. You can’t complain. I think she’s gorgeous, anyway.”

Amanda was responding to comments Cheryl made about body image and body-shaming in an interview with InStyle magazine this month.

Touching on her own experiences, the former Girls Aloud star said: “I can take whatever [the Press] throw at me after 13 years. What worries me is what it’s doing to the younger generation. And some of the people writing this stuff are women. There is no sisterhood. The body-shaming has to stop…Something has to be done, changed, even if it’s done in law.”

Cheryl faced major backlash, however, after adding: “You’d never be allowed to say to somebody, ‘Oh, you look a bit fat.’ And being overweight is unhealthy. It’s actually a bad message to tell someone who is obese that they look curvy or great.”

Cheryl has come under the radar recently for her thin frame, with many people raising concerns over her health.
