It had shaped up to be one of the nastiest celebrity divorce battles of recent times, but thankfully, this star has finally settled on custody arrangements with her estranged wife.
Eight months after announcing that their marriage was over, actress Rosie O’Donnell and Michelle Rounds have come to an agreement regarding their two-year-old adopted daughter, Dakota.
Rosie, who has had a difficult few months, confirmed the news to Us Weekly, joking: “There’s peace in the Middle East. It’s done. We’ve settled. We’re both very happy with the outcome.”
It has since emerged that the former couple have agreed to share joint custody of Dakota.
Despite their previous and well-publicised spats, it is reported that negotiations between Rosie and Michelle were amicable.
Rosie and Michelle announced their split and filed for divorce back in February of this year, with Michelle going on to file for full custody of Dakota. Rounds’ legal representative said at the time that the arrangement was “unequivocally in their child’s best interest and general welfare.”
When Rosie’s lawyer slammed Michelle’s actions as “an absurd and desperate attempt to use a child for own gain”, it looked as though things were about to get ugly.
We are glad that the pair have been able to come to an agreement.
