We’re very saddened to hear of the death of John Heard who played Peter McAllister in the family favourites Home Alone and Home Alone 2.
The actor, who was perhaps best known for his role in the iconic Christmas movie, was found dead by staff at a hotel in Palo Alto, California yesterday.
John, who also enjoyed major success on The Sopranos, underwent minor back surgery just two days before his body was discovered, however, the County of Santa Clara coroner has yet to confirm the cause of death.
According to the actor's representative who spoke to TMZ, John had chosen to stay at a hotel while he recovered from the surgery.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
John is survived by three children, son Jack Heard from his relationship with ex-girlfriend Melissa Leo and his son Max and daughter Annika from his marriage to former wife Sharon Heard.
The actor has been fondly remembered for his role as the father of hapless Kevin McAllister in the hilarious cult movies.
He also received an Emmy nomination for his role as troubled detective Vin Makazian in The Sopranos.
Fans have paid tribute to the actor online, remembering him as a fond part of their childhood.
