Katie Price has made the heartbreaking revelation that she recently suffered a miscarriage.

Speaking on Loose Women, Katie revealed she’d had a miscarriage just four days prior to announcing her split from Kieran Hayler.

Discussing her sad loss with host Andrea McLean, Katie said, “I had a miscarriage four days before, four days later I found out about Kieran and now this”, referring to her mother Amy’s diagnosis with a terminal lung condition.

Andrea alluded to the fact that the Loose Women cast knew about Katie’s miscarriage but that she had chosen not to talk about it publicly until now.

A sombre Katie appeared with her mum Amy to talk about Amy’s condition in depth.

She admitted the reality of Amy’s diagnosis with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) still “hadn’t hit her”.

Talking about her mum, Katie said: “She’s so healthy and social and outgoing.

"I was blunt to the doctor, I said, ‘Cut all of that out. How long does she have to live?’”

Katie added that she put on a brave face “because that’s just what we do as a family”.

Explaining her calm reaction in the face of tragedy, she said: “The thing is, (people think) because we don’t show reaction, we don’t have a heart. Because we have so many dramas, we have a defence mechanism.”

Amy explained her diagnosis to the viewers, saying: “I’ve been under my local doctor for five years, for asthma.

"I’ve had this little cough for years, then I had a chest infection and had an x-ray, and something showed up.

“It’s scarring of the lungs, and it stops you breathing. It’s progressive and, in the end, you won’t be able to breathe.”

She quickly added that she wouldn’t be “pegging off anytime soon”, and said she wanted to support her daughter Katie at this difficult time.

Our hearts go out to Katie – she has been incredibly strong despite what she has been through recently.
