Im struggling: Davina McCall gives honest account of faking her happiness

Davina McCall has had a tough 2018.

The television presenter split from her husband of 17 years, Matthew Robertson and has now opened up about the effect it has had on her.

Appearing on Fearne Cotton's podcats, Happy Place, the 51-year-old got candid about how she has struggled to feel happy since the breakdown of the marriage.

Davina made the revelation that she fakes her happiness as people don't want to see her struggle.

She said, ''It might look like I’m always happy because I quite often just show the bits when I’m happy. But I am often guilty of thinking, 'No one really wants to see me when I’m unhappy'."

Davina also said that Christmas was a "tough day".

She said, ''Sometimes I'm faking it. Sometimes I'm struggling. There have been a few occasions where I’m struggling to see any positives in this at all.''

She continued, ''Happiness is marvellous . I love it when I’m happy, but I’m not always happy."

Davina posted a heartbreaking video over Christmas in 2017 about loneliness - one month after splitting from Matthew.

Speaking of the video, she said, ''The times when I’ve been honest – I posted on Christmas Day about loneliness and it wasn't that I was massively lonely, but I did think it’s a tough day – and the feedback I got from that...''

She continued, ''It’s funny when you do put yourself out there a bit, you get good stuff back."

Davina and Matthew have three kids- 17-year-old Holly, 15-year-old Tilly, and 12-year-old Chester.

We love Davina's refreshingly honest depiction of what goes on behind closed doors and how we all struggle in our own way.
