Lucky to be alive: Mum involved in Prince Philip crash claims he has not apologised

The mum who was involved in a car crash with Prince Philip has expressed outrage at the Royal Family, who have yet to apologise for the accident.

Emma Fairweather broke her wrist in the incident that occurred on Thursday, January 17. The driver of the car she was travelling in suffered cuts to her knee and her nine-month-old baby was not injured.

The Duke of Edinburgh was uninjured in the accident.

Emma claimed the Duke has yet to apologise for the incident, despite officials stating full apologies were issued.

Emma told The Sunday Mirror: “I’m lucky to be alive and he hasn’t even said sorry.”

The mum continued: “It has been such a traumatic and painful time and I would have expected more of the Royal Family.”

“It would mean the world to me if Prince Philip said sorry but I have no idea if he’s sorry at all,” she stressed.

“What would it have taken for him and the Queen to send me a card and a bunch of flowers?”

Emma said a police family liaison officer passed on the Duke’s sincere apologies. She revealed: “The message he passed on didn’t even make sense. He said, ‘The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh would like to be remembered to you.’ That’s not an apology or even a well-wish.”

97-year-old Philip has been hit with waves of criticism following the crash after it emerged that the Duke was not wearing a seatbelt. Many believe Philip should not have been driving at all, especially because of his age.

The Duke claims that the sun was shining too brightly in his eyes when the accident happened: “It could have been so much worse. Prince Philip apparently said to a witness that it was the sun that dazzled him but I can’t see how that could be true when it was overcast,” Emma said.
