Mel B’s mum Andrea Brown is hoping her daughter’s impending divorce from Stephen Belafonte will allow her to reconcile with Mel.

Mel has been estranged from her family for several years following rows about her relationship.

Her family had voiced their concerns over her relationship with Stephen in the past few years, but Mel had not heeded them.

After Mel was hospitalised in 2014 and missed her judge’s spot on The X Factor, her mother and sister expressed concerns for her safety. She later was later seen with signs of bruises on her arms and face.

Mel denied allegations of domestic violence against her at the time, releasing a statement saying: “For the record, my hubby never would lay a hand on me. Sorry took so long, but any response fuels rumours.”

Stephen also denied the allegations of violence towards his wife, but Mel's mother Andrea posted a tweet online saying she had a “vile abusive 3am call” from him. Mel’s sister Danielle also claimed she’d had abusive calls and tweets from Stephen.

According to The Mail Online, a friend of Andrea’s said: “Andrea believes now she will finally be reunited with Mel.”

“She has paid a heavy price by not seeing her daughter and missing her granddaughters grow up, but she did what she did for the right reasons and her concerns have finally been vindicated.”

Stephen is the father of Mel’s youngest child, Madison, five, and they have been married for 10 years. The couple met in 2007, and married after just four months of dating.

It’s believed the death of Mel’s dad last month could have been the catalyst for her filing for divorce.

Mel recently reunited with her sister Danielle to spend time with their dad, and both were by his side when he passed away.

It’s been a tough few weeks for Mel, we hope she receives support from her family and friends.
