Kym Marsh has responded to criticism over her alternative name to granny. The actress became a grandmother for the first time in 2019, but doesn’t like being called nanny or granny.
She decided that she would prefer if her grandson called her ‘Loli’ instead. However, many people have taken offence to the unusual name as they can’t understand what is wrong with traditional names like nanny or gran.
Kym was quick to defend herself on Instagram and stressed that she doesn’t care what people think of the alternative name.
She wrote on Instagram: “I LOVE how many people on here have an issue with my choice of name as a grandparent!?!”
She stressed, “Surely all that matters is that he is happy and loved why does it matter what he calls me? I know lots of people with alternative names! So what!”
The former Coronation Street star continued, “Loli is my choice and I shall live and protect him til the day I die no matter what."
Kym’s daughter Emilie gave birth to her first child, and Kym’s first grandchild Teddy, on May 3 2019.
