Us parents might have some idea what it's like to spend time away from our kids and not by choice.

It can be a difficult position to find yourself in and actors are not immune to it all - especially Bryce Dallas Howard.

The actor, who has starred in The Help and the Jurassic Park series, is mum to 11-year-old son Theodore, and 6-year-old daughter, Beatrice with her husband of twelve years, actor Seth Gabel.

And now the 37-year-old has opened up about how she deals with spending long periods of time away from her kids.

So what's her scheme?

Telling her kids that she'll be starring in a movie they'll actually like, apparently.

She said, ''it's a very powerful negotiating tool. I'll say, 'I'm going to be gone for a week, I'm recording a voice.' And they're like, 'Oh, how cute! A puppy!' Like, 'OK, cool!'"

This works out well with her upcoming film, the animated A Dog's Way Home, which Bruce is delighted that they an all watch together.

The kids have seen some of her work, with Bryce saying, ''they have seen Pete's Dragon. Theo has since watched Jurassic World, one and two. Beatrice hasn't yet. This will actually be the second movie of mine that she's able to watch.''

Being affected by fame, what with both Bryce and her husband Seth being actors, is not something that she worries about.

She said, ''it's interesting because I got to experience such a similar childhood to the one my kids are experiencing.''

She continued, ''because I was raised in the environment of making movies and stuff that wasn't a huge part of my thinking all the time. I get the sense that it’s the same with my kids.''

Bryce seems like such a cool mum, they are lucky kids.
