A batch of popular baby cereal has been recalled due to concerns that they may contain pieces of plastic.
Food manufacturer Nutricia, whom are a part of the Danone group, issued a recall on a batch of their Aptamil Multigrain Banana & Berry Cereal, for ages seven months and older, after the batch was distributed to shops across the country of Ireland.
The recall notice specified that the baby cereal might be contaminated with a blue plastic packaging. The batch in question includes the 200g bags, with a best before date of 7/7/21, which you can find on the back of the bag underneath the barcode.
The Food Safety Authority issued a recall notice which read, "Nutricia is recalling the above batch of Aptamil Multigrain Banana & Berry Cereal, 7+ months due to the possible presence of pieces of blue plastic packaging."
"No other batches are implicated. Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batch."
If you have already bought an Aptamil Multigrain Banana & Berry Cereal which matches the above description, then make sure you do not feed it to your baby, as it might not be safe. Instead, you should return the recalled product to the shop which you bought it from, even if you don't have a receipt, and you'll receive a full refund.
However, if you've already fed your baby from this contaminated batch without noticing any pieces of plastic, Nutricia believes, "it’s very likely that your pack was not affected."
According to a statement from the company, "If you have fed your baby from one of the packs without noticing any pieces [of plastic], it’s very likely that your pack was not affected. No other batches of this product or any other Aptamil products are affected."
