Katie Price has revealed that she is considering donating her own lung, in a desperate bid to save her mother’s life.
Last month, the reality star shared the devastating news that mum Amy, 64, has been diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
The pair appeared on Loose Women together, where Amy revealed that the condition – discovered as she battled a chest infection – is terminal.
Amy’s specialist, who was sitting in the audience, explained: “The average survival is about three to four years after diagnosis but, fortunately, we’ve got new treatments coming through, so that’s beginning to change things.
“And, of course, averages are averages, and they are there to be beaten.”
Mum-of-five Katie is currently on a UK tour, where she has been discussing everything from her troubled love life to her rise to fame. This weekend, she opened up about how she is hoping to help her beloved mother.
“We’re talking about me giving her one of my lungs,” the 39-year-old told the audience, “But I’m not sure it will save her.”
Clearly, this caring side of Katie goes beyond her family, with the star admitting that she is currently training to be a paramedic.
“I’ve started the course, and I’m five years on from being qualified,” she explained.
“I like helping people. I was doing nursing before I got into modelling.”
It has been a tough few months for Katie, particularly following the revelation that her husband, Kieran Hayler, has yet again been unfaithful.
Last month, Katie gave a tell-all interview with The Sun on Sunday, revealing how she discovered that Kieran had cheated with their children’s nanny.
“I was gutted. For a year, I was basically paying her to f*** my husband,” she said.
“Kieran told me they were f***ing all over my house for a year. They had sex everywhere in our bedroom – they even did it in the kids’ bathroom.
“When I confronted him, he denied it at first – even when I said she’d admitted it. I was crying, asking, ‘How could you do this to me again?’”
While Katie had initially claimed that their four-year marriage was over, photos of the pair still together have prompted speculation that she’s giving their relationship another go.
