Holidays are expensive but there are ways to keep the cost down.

Follow these tips and you’ll be able to enjoy your holiday without stressing about your finances:

Get your European Health Insurance Card

While this doesn’t mean you should skip on the travel insurance, the EHIC will entitle you to receive care for the same cost as the locals.

Don’t use your debit card

Stick with cash or your credit card when you are spending abroad. This will save you the flat fee for every time you take money out of the ATM.

Skip on buying travel accessories

You don’t need to buy the tiny little shampoo just because it is less than 100ml or will fit neatly into your suitcase. Use what you have at home and if you are only bringing a carry-on case just squirt the shampoo or lotion into a smaller tube.

Don’t book via the hotel

If you are staying in a hotel avoid booking through their website. Instead do your online research and check comparison websites.

Eat the breakfast

If breakfast is included in your hotel, make sure you go down and eat it. Go for a full plate that will keep you going until lunch – this will save you so much money.
