Has there ever been a more beautiful gesture than the offer to carry someone’s child for them, when they cannot?

It’s a powerful thing, that creates an even more powerful bond between the two women – and Connecticut sisters Beth Gaudino and Anna Hawat can attest to this.

After both suffering heart-breaking losses, Anna is now carrying Beth’s daughter via surrogacy.

Beth has endured her fair share of trauma. She fell pregnant in 2015 with twins, through IVF, but tragically lost them just hours after giving birth. Her pregnancy was considered high-risk throughout, and after a premature rupture, she had gone into labour at 20 weeks.

Anna, herself, has lived through devastating loss as well, going on to suffer a miscarriage just two months after Beth’s ordeal.

Hope sparked for Anna when she got pregnant shortly after, and she went on to welcome a daughter, Penelope, who is now one.

It proved more difficult for Beth, however, who failed to get pregnant through another round of IVF.

Finally, Anna decided to inquire into surrogacy, in a bid to give her sister the family she has always wanted.

Now, happily, Anna is expecting Beth’s rainbow baby for February 2018! It’s a girl, and she is to be named Charlotte Grace.

This is a unique and wonderful story, and Anna and Beth wanted to immortalise the experience forever. For this reason, they called on JoAnn Marrero – the genius behind that rainbow smoke shoot – to capture some special shots.

Other mums expecting rainbow babies participated too; and the results, as you can see, are nothing short of beautiful.

In an interview with People, mum-to-be Beth praised her sister and gushed over their bond.

“I hope one day my kids’ families are just as close as we are,” she said.

“My parents are amazing, married over 30 years, and a great example of what parents should be…

“I would hope that all of the cousins and siblings would be just as close as us.”

We’re wishing both ladies all the luck in the world with the rest of the journey.
