Looks like we’re not the only ones who hate cleaning the oven, as it’s comes out on top in the list of the most hated household chores.

New research has ranked our least favourite household jobs and cleaning the oven has beaten the likes weeding the garden and ironing.

Cleaning the toilet and defrosting the freezer also came in the top ten of most unenjoyable chores.

The research found that nearly 90 percent of Brits said they try and put off doing jobs around the house, and we can definitely relate.

And right now, as you’re reading this, research says you’re more than likely putting off six household jobs.

The study gathered responses from 1,000 Brits and the findings were published in Anglian Home Improvements.

“Nothing is worse than a long list of to-do jobs around the house; and our research showed time consuming, messy jobs, such as cleaning the oven and grouting the bathroom, are among the most loathsome,” a spokesperson said of the research.

However, while we may be putting things off, the research showed that 10 percent of us are waiting for the next bank holiday weekend.

On a positive note however, it seems we enjoy chores such as hanging out the washing on the line, power washing the patio and pairing socks.

Respondents even said they found plumping cushions, walking the dog and ironing shirts therapeutic.

“The results revealed many of the chores we find therapeutic involve us spending time outdoors,” the spokesperson added

“Perhaps unsurprisingly, the most enjoyable jobs are improving the exterior of our homes – such as painting the garden fence or front door, raking leaves, and cleaning windows.

"At this time of year, we all know how satisfying it can be to spend time sprucing-up our homes and gardens.”

And it seems the list of chores we have to do is even keeping us awake at night.

Nearly 25 percent of Brits worry so much about their list of household jobs, they wake up in the middle of the night.

“We are a house proud nation, but it seems we may never learn to love certain jobs around the home.

“Thankfully, help is on hand, whether this means calling in parents or the professionals.

“And there will always be a list of chores we find therapeutic to give us the feeling of satisfaction that our homes are in order.”
