You don’t need to head to the Florida coast or even further afield to experience the thrill that is swimming with dolphins; there are so many great locations in Europe making it more accessible for a lot more families.

Algarve, Portugal

Just 10 km from Albufeira in the Algarve is a great little aquarium called Zoomarine which offers you a chance to interact with captive dolphins. Here you will be taught how to handle the dolphins so as not to scare them and a brief chat that will provide you with some information about them.

Sicily, Italy

Lampedusa Island in Sicily is a great spot to see dolphins and whales. And once you are in the water you will be treated to a beautiful underwater show.

Tuscany, Italy

There are over 130 dolphins living in the Pelagos Sanctuary in the north of Tuscany. To see them, you’ll have to sail with researchers from the Centre of Research on Cetaceans on a catamaran cruise. A great way to really learn all there is to know about these wonderful mammals.

Zante Island, Greece

You’ll have to head to The Alykes beach, on the north coast, to be able to spot dolphins and while their movements are unpredictable, if you are lucky to see them you won't be disappointed.
