These days, cruising is a fantastic option for a family holiday, and is especially great for children. You and your husband will be able to relax while your children are being well entertained. Do your research properly and you will find a cruise that has a dedicated children’s area including a ball pool for your five-year-old, or somewhere really cool for your teenagers to hang out.

Some cruises have facilities for children that include craft activities, plenty of toys, arcade games, pools, including those with wave simulators, ice skating, climbing frames, as well as a wide variety of programs for children of all ages. These programs include plenty of activities for toddlers, such as painting, building bricks, coloring in, sing-alongs, going all the way up to Internet cafes, parties, and games for teenagers.

A family cruise holiday can very easily be compared to a holiday at a family resort. Family accommodation is also available on a family cruise holiday, as are rooms with extra beds, interconnecting rooms, and sofa beds. Children’s meals are available with special teas and a very good choice of meals.

Generally, everything is included in the all-inclusive packages, making a family cruise holiday relatively affordable. However, there are a few things to consider before booking your cruise holiday. For instance, the larger and more modern ships, mean really long walks from one end of the ship to another, so study the deck plan carefully before choosing your cabin, taking into consideration the ages of your family members. Also, the new super liners have fewer port stops, so you will have more days at sea - this is something else to consider. You should also check the itinerary of the cruise as well. Find out how long you will be staying in each port and whether or not the program includes interesting things for you and your family to do, both on the ship and while in port.

Find out too, whether there will be organised activities for the children, and if so, whether the cost is included in the cruise price or not. You should also check to see whether there would be other children on the cruise who are the same ages as your children, so they have someone to play with. It is a good idea to find out what type of entertainment will be available for the children.

Most cruise ships have babysitting facilities, but do check to make extra sure that there will be someone to look after your children should you and your husband need baby sitting after your children have gone to bed. Check that the accommodation you are interested in is suitable for your family needs.

Another good idea is to confirm that there will be a medically trained person on board, should you need one. Very importantly, see that you have medication for seasickness, should any member of your family be affected.
