Harry and Meghan have officially left the Royal Foundation

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have officially left their joint charity body with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Harry and Meghan have decided to set up their own foundation, the Royal Foundation has confirmed.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will continue to head the Royal Foundation. It will now be known as the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The couples will continue to work together in the future, but they felt it would be best to split as the two couples are now on divergent paths.

Harry, Meghan, Kate and William sat down last year to discuss the future of the Royal Foundation.

Both Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace have stressed that the decision to split is not due to any rift between the royals. The Cambridges and Sussexes will continue to support one another.

"These changes were designed to best complement the work and responsibilities of Their Royal Highnesses as they prepare for their future roles, and to better align their charitable activity with their new households," Kensington Palace stated.

The Cambridges and Sussexes will continue their work on mental health campaign Heads Together, as well as other projects.

The Royal Foundation was established by brothers Prince William and Prince Harry in 2009.
