On any given day we’re running around like headless chickens trying to get the dinner ready, the kids brought to Taekwondo on time, and the mortgage paid – and that’s naming just three of about, oh a million. Is it any wonder we get stressed? 

 

Well we’ve got the perfect drink to soothe and relax your frazzled mind AND ease those nasty tension headaches naturally.

 

Lavender lemonade (God, even the name is soothing) is healthy, refreshing and packed with stress-busting goodness.

 

Lavender oil is often viewed as a pretty and genteel herb, but make no mistake about it, it’s a complex powerhouse packed with over 150 active constituents which have anti-inflammatory, antidepressant antibacterial, antispasmodic, analgesic (pain relief), detoxifying, hypotensive (blood pressure lowering) and sedative properties.

 

It’s just a nice little bonus that it looks cute in a vase.

 

 

Lovely Lavender Lemonade (serves 4-6)

 

You will need:

 

100g Honey

 

2 litres water

 

7 lemons peeled and juiced

 

Lavender essential oil

 

Lavender sprigs to garnish

 

 

To make:

 

1. Bring the honey and a little water to boil in a pan to make a ‘syrup’ and set aside to cool

 

2. Pour the rest of the cold water and the lemon juice into a jug and add the syrup.

 

3. Add just one drop of the essential oil to the lemonade to start with – it’s quite potent and you don’t want to overpower the lemonade.

 

4. Add more honey to taste.

 

5. Add some lemon slices and lavender sprigs to garnish – and by ‘to garnish’ of course what we really mean is ‘to make it look Instagram-worthy’.

 

Now we want you to take five, sit down and enjoy the experience. So no gulping it down and legging it out the door! Go on, have a bit of ‘me time’ – breathe in the relaxing scent of lavender and feel your stresses melt away…
