Sometimes you know you’ve found ‘the one’ pretty much right away (yes, we believe in love at first sight!) and sometimes it takes years of working at building a solid, loving partnership for you to realise you’ve had the one all along.
Aww.
Either way, it’s a pretty amazing feeling knowing you’ve found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.
Here are 7 loved-up signs you have most definitely found the one:
1. You tell each other everything
And we mean everything. They’re the first person you want to tell your news to, whether it’s something big like, “I got the job!” or something small like, “I broke a nail and then I couldn’t get a seat on the Luas.” And they feel the exact same about you.
2. You know each other ‘warts n’ all’
Yep, and you STILL love each other. Although you both have annoying habits (they snore like a rhino; you leave hairpins all over the house) you accept them because heck, who’s perfect?
3. You always have each other’s back
You would do anything to support and protect them, and they would do the same for you. You feel so secure and loved because you know that they have your back no matter what.
4. You can see yourself spending the rest of your life with them
When you look into the future and imagine the pair of you old and content in each other’s company, perhaps with an army of grandchildren around you, instead of recoiling in fear you feel happy.
5. You are totally honest with each other
Real, lasting love is about honesty and trust. You know you can tell them anything and they’ll try to understand. And by the same token they won’t tell you what you want to hear, but what you NEED to hear. Although saying that, they’ll know that sometimes – usually around your period – it's best to tell you what you want to hear!
6. You’re happy doing nothing together
A sign of a strong relationship is being happy in each other’s company doing absolutely nothing. You don’t necessarily need adventure or distractions to have fun together.
7. But you love going on adventures together
You’re each other’s partner in crime. You love travelling together and trying new things as a couple.
8. You’re independent
You love being together, but because you’re both secure enough in your relationship to allow each other to be yourselves, you have your own separate lives too.
9. You think they’re the bee’s knees
You’re just mad about them! You think they’re bloody great, and you’re proud as punch to call them your partner.
10. You make each other laugh – constantly
Your sense of humour might veer on the ridiculous at times, but who cares when you have so much fun together? You’ve heaps of silly in-jokes and are able to laugh at yourselves and each other. In fact, teasing is a big part of your relationship!
