Fireman Sam is one of the most popular children’s TV characters of all time, but some people have an issue with the beloved figure.
Numerous people in England believe his name should be changed to ‘Firefighter Sam’ to be more inclusive. They have called for a change to be made so little girl's can be included.
The character was recently dropped as a mascot for The Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service because they think it will put women off becoming firefighters.
They also stated that the character was outdated.
Their main issue is the fact that the name ‘fireman’ excludes women and they want to ensure that this doesn’t reflect their ethos.
Numerous parents have expressed their outrage online.
“This Fireman Sam nonsense is just laughable. Who even wakes up to be offended by a cartoon character?” one wrote.
One stressed, “The only people offended are the adults. Kids don't care, it's just a cartoon for them.”
Another argued, “The whole #FiremanSam thing is a bit ridiculous. We can’t sideline all male role-models - we just need more female ones.”
