Katy Miles has just completed the Great North Run half-marathon in the U.K.

The 17-year-old princess slipped into a dress on September 11th and took off in a bid to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust

Katy dressed up as Cinderella for the event, but the reason behind her unique outfit choice was both wonderful and moving.

When she was just four-years-old, Katy was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumour, a type of kidney cancer.

Katy went through chemotherapy for 10-months, but there was something small which helped her get through such a difficult time.

Her blue, Cinderella, princess dress.

"Now, over a decade later, I still go for annual check-ups at the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle but, despite having one kidney, I lead an active life."

"Not only did I decide to tackle a half-marathon, I decided to do it dressed as Cinderella as a throwback to my time going through cancer treatment."

The teen revealed to the trust that the dress helped her to keep smiling at the time, believing it was fitting to put on the princess attire for the run in a bid to raise awareness.

"I think it's so important that every young person with cancer receive the kind of support that Teenage Cancer Trust gives. No one should have to face cancer alone."

Speaking about running her first ever half-marathon, Katy stated: "After running I was completely shattered but I really enjoyed it."

"I nearly lost my shoe, just like Cinderella, at Mile 3 when my lace came undone, but managed to keep it on - maybe that's why I didn't find my Prince Charming!"

This is one inspirational teen - an amazing role model for children.
