Gordon Ramsay was set to pursue a promising football career, until an injury ruled that out. Instead, he returned to college to complete a course in hotel management. During his training he served his time in the kitchens of culinary stars Marco Pierre White and Albert Roux in London, and Guy Savoy in France where he perfected his expertise in classic French cooking. This was the beginning of what became a successful career as a chef, restaurateur and TV personality.
