Congratulations are in order and the pitter patter of tiny feet are on the horizon for acclaimed opera singer Danielle de Niese and husband, Gus Christie.

The Australian/ American singer who has been dubbed ‘opera’s coolest soprano’ found out she was a mum-to-be while in San Francisco, which necessitated a very exciting online date with her husband back home!

Opening up about her wonderful news, the 35-year-old singer said: “I was in the middle of rehearsals, and I went and got a couple of pregnancy tests then immediately called Gus. I told him the good news on Facetime- well, when you travel…”

It looks like plans for the new arrival who is due in May are in full swing! Danielle revealed that the baby will grow up in Glyndebourne, the country estate which hosts the annual opera festival, due to her husband’s long family ties with the property.

Opening up about the decision, the talented performer said: “My husband was born in the house. He has warm memories of the influx of characters here and sitting in the orchestra pit with his brother.”

Gus and Danielle married in London in 2009 and this is their first child together.

Congratulations guys!
