Brace yourself for torrential rainfall this weekend.

Meteorologists have warned of the upcoming Storm Ernesto, pegged to hit the UK first and then sweep across the pond to Ireland as well.

According to BBC Weather, the subtropical storm will cover parts the UK this weekend, arriving early Saturday morning.

Weather predictions indicate that Saturday’s sunshine will be replaced with heavy rainfall that night, continuing on until Sunday morning.

Scotland and western England will experience the worst and wettest parts of Storm Ernesto, while south-east England is expected to be soaking up 26 degree sunshine.

“That rain will eventually move straight into Northern Ireland, pushing into Scotland, north-west England and north-west Wales.

“The winds picking up again during Friday, staying mostly dry and bright in the south-east of England. But again gusts of wind of about 30-35 mph, more so in northern areas,” said BBC weather  forecaster.

However, Storm Ernesto is anticipated to lose most of its power as it crosses the Atlantic on its way to the UK.

Therefore, official weather warnings have not been issued at the moment.

Along with heavy downpour, the storm will bring overcast skies, gusty winds, and muggy weather.

Forecasters also advise the public to expect the smell of fire and soot tracked in by Storm Ernesto from wildfires in the US and Canada.

On the plus side, the smoke is said to make for some beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

So, make sure to prepare yourself for the upcoming rain and stormy weather conditions, but at the moment, forecasters aren’t too worried about Storm Ernesto’s effects.
