It’s a truth universally acknowledged that babies – in each and every form – are the cutest things on the planet, and we got more than a little squeal of excitement over this ‘daycare’ with a difference.
With the giant panda population reaching dangerously low levels in recent years, the Chengdu Research Base in China has become incredibly important to their survival.
Known more informally as panda ‘daycare’, Chengdu is a specialised breeding centre and nursery for this endangered species.
Given how giant pandas only breed for two to three days out of the year, and then only give birth to one cub every two years, each and every newborn is a precious creature who needs top quality care – and, boy, do they get it.
As you can see from the beautiful photos captured at Chengdu, these pandas’ every need is taken care of – from feeding and sleeping in a safe environment, to all-important play time!
If you’re anything like us, then it’s likely that your heart is melting as you cast your eyes over these incredible photos!
It’s so important to take responsibility for our animal friends – particularly the endangered – and it’s very comforting to know that places like Chengdu exist.
