Cake. One of the best things about birthdays. If not the best thing.

Sponge, chocolate chip, ice cream, biscuit; we don't have a preference or a favourite - we'll take whatever is being offered.

However, when it comes to cutting the cake ourselves, we are always left with uneven slices: some giant, some tiny - and the kids are forever whining at parties because so-and-so got a bigger piece than them.

But with the help of Katherine Sabbath's hack, you'll be serving up slices that are the exact same size to each and every guest.

The baker took to her fabulous-looking Instagram page to share exactly how we should all be cutting cake so the slices are even (and not as gigantic as we'd normal like them).

"A fine example of how to cut my whopper of a cake into responsible servings," she wrote under a video of one of her glorious creations being cut.

"The best thing about this is, you can always go back for seconds or thirds."

Yes, Katherine - that is truly one of the best things about this!

Cake, anyone?
