If fans of Meghan Markle are eagerly awaiting her next royal appearance donning a sparkly crown in the coming weeks, you'll be disappointed.

While Kate Middleton has been spotted wearing a tiara very reminiscent of Princess Diana on many an occasion, the same rule won't apply to Markle, even as a Princess-to-be.

At least, not yet. Why?

The simple reason is that Markle and Harry haven't tied the knot.

Yes, according to The Mirror, it's all down to strict protocol, which says that unmarried woman can't wear tiaras.

While she could wear a tiara on her wedding day - similar to Kate - in general, it's regarded as an evening-only accessory.

''Flashy diamonds and tiaras are not worn during the day, and only married ladies wear tiaras," etiquette expert Grant Harold told the BBC. "For married ladies, it was a sign of status and would show you were taken and not looking for a husband."

But the good news is, at least, following the anticipated wedding in May, she'll be able to wear as much of this royal jewellery as she likes.

Because who gets sick of looking at those incredible crowns atop that perfect royal hair?

Certainly not us.
