While there are a number of ways to get them to behave and obey while out for a walk, the following tips will help you at least get started.
Make sure you walk in front of them
It is important your dog sees you as the pack leader, so walk in front of them when out and about. If your dog feels in control of the walk there’ll just be trouble!
Choose the right lead
While long leads and extendable ones are ideal once your dog is used to being taken out, for the first few weeks or months stick to a short leash so that you’ll have a lot more control.
Reward your dog
It is important you reward your dog for behaving on the lead. Allow them to have a sniff around but make sure they know that you are still in charge so don’t allow them sniff around too long.
