Travelling can be a nightmare whether you are bringing kids along with you or not. However, there are a few things that are made so much worse if you do have youngsters in tow. A lot worse.
When your bags don’t arrive
There is nothing quite like arriving at a destination to find that none of your bags have made it over with you. This is ten times worse with kids, especially if their favourite teddy is in the suitcase that never arrived.
When the flight is cancelled/ delayed
Trying to keep yourself amused is bad enough when you are waiting around for your flight, but kids take an awful lot of time and concentration to keep them entertained. You’ll also end up spending most of your holiday budget on airport food. Not fun.
Turbulence
Nobody likes turbulence - it is definitely one of the worst things about flying, but when you’re trying to hold in your fear so as not to frighten your kids you just end up a narky, nervous wreck.
When the wheel on your suitcase breaks
The suitcase is heavy enough as it is without having to lift it up because the wheel broke, but you also need to hold your kids hand just in case they get lost and lug the thing around.
Early morning flights/ boats
Getting everyone up, dressed, fed and out on time is no mean feat going to school. Do this at 3am to catch a 6am flight and you’ll probably all end up leaving the house not talking. And someone is bound to forget something.
