There's no doubt that home or salon hair colour fades eventually, but we like to think we’ll get a decent amount of time out of it before we’re back colouring it again. We don’t go through all that hassle, not to mention expense, only for it to fade quickly right?
Well did you know one of your styling stalwarts could in fact be stripping your hair of that precious colour? We HATE to break it you ladies, we really do, but according to a viral video on Instagram, our straighteners can strip our colour almost instantaneously.
The video shows hairstylist Guy Tang running the straighteners through coloured hair, and in seconds there’s a dramatic difference in the colour intensity. Eek.
Now, we can concede that looking at the video, the colour is potentially one of those novelty dyes that aren’t necessarily permanent – so would fade quicker than regular colour anyway – but the demo definitely shows that the heat contributes to stripping.
So, the question we need to ask ourselves is: kinky, wild hair – or faded colour?
