If you are unlucky enough to be the only person on your family holiday to be plagued by mosquito bites, you might be wondering why they have it in for you.

And if you like to think it’s simply because your blood is better than everyone else’s (whatever makes you happy!), you might be surprised to learn the following:

Your scent plays a huge role

We all have bacteria on our skin which produces a different chemical – some people’s scent is just more attractive to mosquitoes.

Your DNA

A study found that your DNA plays a role in whether are just more predisposed to being bitten than others.

If you’re pregnant

Researchers in England and Africa, found that pregnant women were more likely to be bitten than those not expecting. They based this finding on the fact that mozzies are attracted to carbon dioxide and mums-to-be exhale more. Also, the rise in a pregnant woman’s temperature might also be a factor.

And one for fun...

They love Limburger cheese

If you are a fan of Limburger cheese, you might want to listen up because mosquitoes love it! This type of cheese has an aroma which is closely related to the bacteria which grows between our toes and the irritating fly loves it.
