She welcomed her first child into the world last week, with fiancé Corey Bohan, and it’s safe to say we fell in love with reality star Audrina Patridge’s choice of name for her daughter.

Now, opening up for the first time since becoming a mother, the former star of The Hills has explained just where the inspiration for little Kirra Max’s name came from – and it’s actually very beautiful.

“I have loved the name Kirra for a while now, and when I read my top three names to Corey, he loved it, too! Kirra is also the name of an amazing surf spot in Australia, so it has double meaning!” she wrote, on her official website.

As for the tot’s middle name, Max – that comes from Audrina’s grandfather, who sadly passed away last month.

“She was due on his birthday, and he couldn’t wait to meet her. He would have been so proud…I love and miss him so much. I know she would have melted his heart, as she’s done to mine, and I would do anything to have them meet, even if it’s just for a brief moment,” she added.

We’re sure there are a lot of mums and dads out there who can relate to Audrina’s bittersweet feelings. What a gorgeous tribute, to name her newborn after a loved one.
