They have always presented themselves as a tight family unit, and Barack Obama was every bit the gushing father as he opened up about the kind of daughters he is raising.

The President, who is dad to 16-year-old Malia and 14-year-old Sasha, has paid tribute to his hard-working girls with some lovely words during an interview this week.

“The truth is the girls are wonderful. You know, they work hard – they work a lot harder than I ever did when I was a kid,” he said.

He added: “Most importantly, they’re kind, they’re respectful, they don’t have an attitude. Partly because maybe my mother-in-law was here; you know, we say we don’t want to see any attitude out of them, and they’ve been terrific.”

And despite the fact that he is one of the most powerful men in the world, the 53-year-old admitted that his girls are still embarrassed by him. We think it just has to be a universal thing at that age!

Barack and wife Michelle have always been open on their family values, even previously revealing how they have shamed their daughters into never getting tattoos.

Appearing on The Ellen Show, Barack recalled telling the girls that if they ever got a tattoo, he and Michelle would find out, get the same tattoo in the same place, and they would unveil it as a ‘family tattoo’ on live TV!

If that’s not genius parenting, we don’t know what is.
