The world was left in shock when it emerged that the beautiful Peaches Geldof had passed away, but this weekend her father Bob has said he was ‘half-expecting’ to receive the devastating news.
Geldof made the comment in an interview with RTÉ presenter Miriam O’Callaghan, during which he opened up about the profound impact his daughter’s death has had on his life.
The Boomtown Rats singer said that, out of all the losses he has had to deal with – his mother’s and former wife Paula Yeats’ included – it was Peaches’ who hit him the hardest.
“With Peaches it was different. Part of me kind of half-expected Peaches, to be honest with you, the way she was carrying on. There’s nothing you can do about it," said the 64-year-old.
Referring to Peaches’ age when she passed away, the singer added: “I find that label ‘forever 25’ unbearable. You’re not supposed to see your children die.”
When asked how he perseveres in the midst of such tragedy, Geldof – who recently wed long-term partner Jeanne Marine – said: “I’ve no idea what’s going to happen to me next…You just make the most of life.”
Peaches passed away from a reported drug overdose in April 2014, a mother of two young boys with husband Thomas Cohen.
